My ex-wife had a bad habit of neglecting to inform me when she would up and move my kids, at least four times they were uprooted. Having 50/50 custody it went as far as our young children keeping this vital information from me even on my custody week, a form of parental alienation.

During the school year we had an agreement that the kids would get on the school bus Monday morning to go to school and on the afternoon bus they would take that bus to their mother’s house. And vice-versa on my week. So to my astonishment and disbelief, one day a friend of mine called to let me know they saw my son, in third grade at the time, was sitting on the corner bus stop of the apartment complex that he lived, at least that’s where I thought he lived!

The next week when he returned I asked my son “Why were you sitting at the bus stop after the school bus drops you off?” His reply was beyond even what I could have comprehended. He said “Mom has moved and told me to take the bus from school to my old bus stop. Mom will pick me up to take me home when she gets there”. He went on to say that if it rained I should go into the workout room of the complex to hang out for shelter, per his mom’s instructions.

Come to find out her new residence was outside the school district busing, so she decided to continue busing him to his old neighborhood to save her the trip, or inconvenience, to go to the school and pick him up. I proceeded to call the principal of the elementary school to inform him that the mother of my child is having my son bussed to his old address and to please look into this. I was able to access the information card on file with the school which still had her old address, she never updated the school with her new address. Not surprising since even the father of this child (me) wasn’t notified of the address change. The principal called my ex-wife into his office to confront her only to receive attitude.

This is just another example of parental alienation. Instead of having my son take the bus to my house she’d rather have him sit on the corner of a neighborhood he no longer lived only to be put in danger to then spend another minute with me. Stranger danger and inclement weather are only a few reasons why this is a bad parental decision!
